Extending Dr. Glasser’s Choice Theory to the world of disabilities
| By Lynn Nauth | Books We Recommend | The Relationship First Approach |
Over a decade ago, I was browsing the bookstore and randomly picked up a book, Choice Theory. I opened it up somewhere in the middle of the book and read that page.
Every word resonated with my personal belief that happiness and success are directly related to creating authentic and loving relationships in our lives. And, that everything we do is a choice. Dr. Glasser provides profound insight into human behavior relating to this idea and how we can relate to others lovingly, change our behavior and choose to be happy.
Note: Join The William Glasser Institute in May 2009 as Dr. Glasser’s 84th birthday is celebrated. A Basic Intensive Week Training is organized throughout the world during the entire month and enrollment is open to everyone. If you are interested in attending a Basic Intensive Week, check here often to see if a class is scheduled in your area.
This Saturday I will be assembling a deck at a residence which is the home of 4 young men with developmental disabilities. The new footings are poured, the ledger board is ready to go in place and most of the other pieces will be ready for installation prior to Saturdays work. So the plan is put the kit together, but then some of it is still in development stages.
The deck will be 12’ X 12’ with no stairway to the ground, 6” X 6” railing posts that will support a pergola and 48” railings.
If you have any time to help it would be truly appreciated, the plan is to start at ~9:30 and hopefully complete it that day. Thanks for your consideration!

I have a priceless moment to share about Matthew. We went to Stephano’s, an Italian Restaurant owned by of friend of mine to try “escargot”—the French word for snail. While driving there, we sang songs on 107.9. We tried the escargot and he loved it. They also brought out a cheesecake for this consumer’s birthday; he had a smile “from here to China” and could not stop saying how much he had enjoyed trying the snails. My friend ended up paying the bill and felt blessed with Matthew’s pure innocence. Stacey
